Let’s talk truth. The transatlantic slave trade was the greatest human and sex trafficking syndicate in global history—an operation of exploitation, violence, and commodification that lasted centuries. From 1619 to 1865, Black bodies were bought, sold, and abused under a legally sanctioned system. It was a human RICO enterprise—organized, systemic, and profitable.

Fast forward to 2025:

Human and sex trafficking continues to devastate communities of color. According to Polaris Project, over 40% of reported U.S. trafficking victims are Black, and many go unidentified or unprotected. Women and children—especially Black girls—are disproportionately targeted.

Here’s the timeline: 📷 2000 – Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) passed 📷 2015 – Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act signed 📷 2023 – Strengthening the child sex trafficking prevention mandate📷 Still, the modern-day underground trade thrives in zip codes we call home. We must raise awareness, demand resources, and tell the stories that break generational silence.
